WHAT A WELCOME!

I woke up in Uganda to an absolutely magnificent day! But it was nothing compared to the welcome I received from all the children prticipating in the Namuwongo Literacy Project at the In Need Home!
The moment I set foot through the gate I was surrounded by children grabbing on to my hands, hugging me and shouting over & over again: "Teacha Howard! Teacher Howard"! I was literally moved to tears.
After things calmed down a bit, they all sat down on their mats and only wanted to sing WHERE IS THUMPER?.....a song I taught them on my first visit.
I must say, I was greatly impressed with the many new skills the children have developed since the last time I saw them. Thanks to their Ugandan teachers and the many volunteers who have worked with the children their literacy skills are amazing!
I'll write much more in my next BLOG entry as it is getting quite late now.
I have lots more to say about the gifts I brought from The Red Hippo Project people and Sue Brotherwood as well as pictures and letters from Ruby and Kavita whose BLOG entries preceed this one.
